The available 240-hp V6 engine allows the Escape to tow up to 3,500 pounds when equipped with the available Class II Trailer Tow Package. A smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission is available with the standard 2.5L Duratec™ I-4 engine and standard with the available 3.0L Duratec™ V6. With its wide span of gear ratios across the six speeds, this transmission provides responsive acceleration at the low end and excellent highway fuel economy in the overdrive sixth gear. The excellent handling characteristics of the Escape can be attributed, in part, to the independent double-lateral and semi-trailing arm design of the vehicle's rear suspension system. This design allows each rear wheel to operate independently and negotiate road conditions individually. An 18.5mm rear stabilizer bar and precise suspension tuning also contribute to the controlled, responsive ride. And the available Intelligent 4WD System provides maximum traction under a variety of driving conditions. | |

Escape Standard & Optional Equipment
Don't let the small SUV category fool you. There's roomy, comfortable seating for five plus a versatile cargo area with 31.4 cu. ft. of space behind the rear seats. Need more room? Fold the rear seats down for 67.2 cu. ft. of total storage space. The roof rack can carry up to 100 lbs. of cargo with the available crossbars. Even the smallest storage needs are accommodated, with a three-tier storage system in the center console that has a hidden level big enough for a laptop or a purse. The Escape can be equipped with an available wet trunk to store and protect your personal items. Included in the Cargo Package, the lockable wet trunk bin is positioned underneath the rear cargo area away from prying eyes. Dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control (DEATC, available on the Limited) allows you and your front passenger to set individual temperature zones for complete comfort.
Communication is key to a successful partnership, so get ready to be very happy with the Escape. You can bond over things such as music and phone calls with the available SYNC™ voice-activated communications and entertainment system. Using simple voice commands, you can also tell the available Navigation System exactly where you want to go.
